Xiaomi through Aksi Cepat Tanggap are among the first to be at the location to help collect daily essentials and other relief materials

JAKARTA, Indonesia, Oct. 1, 2018  —  In a humanitarian effort, global technology leader, Xiaomi, join hands with Aksi Cepat Tanggap committing donation to who are affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi.

Xiaomi took initiative to extend a helping hand in donating food items, medicine, hygiene products including edibles (baby food, biscuits, clean water), and non-edibles (baby diapers, flashlight, and powerbank). Xiaomi through Aksi Cepat Tanggap are among the first to be at the location to help collect daily essentials and other relief materials to meet the needs of families impacted by disasters of Palu and Donggala.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone in the region whose lives have been impacted by both the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala,” said Steven Shi, Xiaomi Indonesia Country Manager and Head of South Pacific Region. “Xiaomi has always been committed to serve the community and our partnerships with local nonprofits serving the community like Aksi Cepat Tanggap make it possible for us to move essential goods to where it is needed most.”

“ACT welcomes Xiaomi’s initiative to ease the burden of our family affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Palu and Donggala,” said Ahyudin, President of Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT). “As we know, after the earthquake & tsunami that hit Palu & Donggala, there are many urgent needs such as first aid, baby supplies and food. In addition, electricity is not active yet so powerbank assistance is very helpful for victims and volunteers who want to send updates to their loved ones. Hopefully it will continue to provide a more massive impact for the victims.”

The top priority right now is ensuring the safety of those affected by the tsunami, assist the needs and items required to address their immediate needs to provide shelter, livelihood, and non-food items. In addition to support the immediate needs, Xiaomi is also providing 2,500 units of its ready-to-use Mi Power Banks to volunteers, families and local field team to stay connected to provide update to outside world.
