  • Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2 will be available through an exclusive operator channel Vodafone Spain starting this week on its Online Store and in Vodafone stores. Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 offer a download speed of up to 600Mbps and a 5.99” screen.
  • Through the launch, Vodafone becomes the first operator in the Spanish market to commercialize products from Xiaomi.

Madrid, 23 of May, 2018. – Vodafone Spain and global technology leader Xiaomi jointly bring the premium flagship smartphone Mi MIX 2 to the Spanish operator market this week, exclusively for Vodafone subscribers.

 

Mi MIX gave everyone a glimpse of what the phone of the future would look like, defying everyone’s expectations about smartphone design and pioneering the trend of full screen display smartphones. Mi MIX 2 raises the bar — with its 5.99-inch screen and a 18:9 full screen display, it delivers a stunning appearance with the screen almost entirely filling up the front surface.

Additionally, it allows for surfing on the Internet at a download speed of up to 600Mbps and an upload speed of up to 100Mbps.

Through the launch, Vodafone becomes the first operator in the Spanish market to commercialize a product by Xiaomi.

Powerful and elegant

Jointly designed with world-renowned designer Philippe Starck, Mi MIX 2 represents Xiaomi’s efforts in pushing ahead with the use of ceramic. It has a beautiful ceramic back, which features a four-sided curved design that transitions smoothly into the aluminum frame.

Mi MIX 2 delivers the ultimate high-performance experience, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB memory. It also uses the latest Sony IMX386 sensor in its 12-megapixel camera, and comes with 4-axis OIS that reduces the effect of handshake or motion, so images and videos remain sharp.

Mi MIX 2 is available from this week in Vodafone stores and the Vodafone Onine Store. It benefits from the following Vodafone advantages:

[News] CK Hutchison and Xiaomi form Global Strategic Alliance

Strategic alliance covers Xiaomi smartphones and IoT and lifestyle  products for sale in CK Hutchison’s telecom and retail divisions across the world.

(Hong Kong, 3 May 2018) CK Hutchison Holdings (“CK Hutchison”), a multinational conglomerate spanning over 50 countries, and global technology leader Xiaomi, announced today the forming of a global strategic alliance that will bring Xiaomi’s smartphones, as well as IoT and lifestyle products, to the telecom and retail divisions of CK Hutchison Group across the world.

The alliance will broaden the product range of CK Hutchison’s 3 Group and AS Watson brands and help accelerate Xiaomi’s international expansion. CK Hutchison has over 17,700 retail and telecom stores worldwide and close to 130 million active mobile customers in 11 countries. Xiaomi products will initially be available at 3 Group’s stores in Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Sweden and the UK and in AS Watson’s Fortress, Superdrug and Kruidvat stores in Hong Kong, Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands.  Xiaomi will also extend its collaboration with CK Hutchison’s operator channels in European markets.  The agreement covers certain preferential arrangements for smartphones in the telecom markets in Denmark, Ireland and Sweden, and for Xiaomi’s “Mi Ecosystem” IoT and lifestyle products in certain markets.

Last week around Mobile World Congress 2018, the world’s largest exhibition and conference for the mobile industry, we were part of two partnerships with Google in bringing its AR platform and Google Assistant to our smartphones. Here’s a recap of the announcements in case you missed it.

Partnership with Google ARCore

Augmented reality (AR) marks the next shift in what’s possible with mobile devices. With ARCore, Google’s AR platform for Android, developers can build AR apps and publish them to the Google Play store. ARCore apps can understand the user’s environment and place objects and information in it, enabling users to place virtual 3D objects on various surfaces, and change their view as they move the phone. In short, ARCore allows users to experience games or visualize rooms and spaces in new and innovative ways.

On February 23, we announced that Xiaomi has become one of Google’s ARCore partners. That means upcoming Xiaomi devices will support ARCore apps, bringing an amazing AR experience to more Android users both in China and globally.

Partnership with Google Assistant

Google Assistant is available across various Android devices. Our Mi A1 was exhibited as one of the devices at the booth of Google Assistant during MWC.

Google Assistant is already integrated on our set-top boxes through Android TV.

Our set-top box and laser projector with buit-in set-top box was exhibited at the Google Assistant booth during MWC.

Additionally, we announced that we will be partnering with Google to bring Google Assistant capabilities to Xiaomi smartphones. A deeper integration with Google Assistant will bring new ways to interact with Xiaomi devices, yielding a better customer experience for Xiaomi users around the world.

Xiaomi and Microsoft Sign Strategic MoU in Cloud, Devices and AI Areas

Today, Xiaomi Corporation and Microsoft Corporation signed a strategic Framework Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to further deepen the partnership between the two companies. Microsoft’s globally leading technologies in cloud computing and AI will help in strengthening Xiaomi’s leadership in mobile, smart devices and services, and contribute to the acceleration of its international expansion.

“Xiaomi is one of the most innovative companies in China, and it is becoming increasingly popular in various markets around the world.” Dr. Harry Shum, executive vice president of Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence and Research Group said, “Microsoft’s unique strengths and experience in AI, as well as our products like Azure, will enable Xiaomi to develop more cutting-edge technology for everyone around the world.”

Wang Xiang, Global Senior Vice President and Head of International Business, Xiaomi, said, “Microsoft has been a great partner and we are delighted to see both companies deepening this relationship with this strategic MoU. Xiaomi’s mission is to deliver innovation to everyone around the world. Based on the strategic MoU, Xiaomi and Microsoft’s cooperation will focus on the following aspects:

  • Cloud support: Xiaomi is in the process of rapidly expanding its user base in global market. Xiaomi and Microsoft will explore utilizing Microsoft Azure cloud platform to support Xiaomi’s user data storage, bandwidth, computing and other cloud services in international markets.
  • Laptop-type devices: Xiaomi will leverage Microsoft’s support on joint marketing, channel support, and future product development for Xiaomi’s laptop and laptop-type devices to penetrate international markets.
  • Microsoft Cortana and Mi AI Speaker: Both companies are discussing opportunities to integrate Cortana with Mi AI Speaker. Senior executives from both parties are involved to drive deeper technology integration and collaboration for AI-powered speakers, a market segment projected to grow rapidly in the next few years.
  • AI services collaboration: Xiaomi and Microsoft intend to explore multiple cooperative projects based on a broad range of Microsoft AI technologies, such as Computer Vision, Speech, Natural Language Processing, Text Input, Conversational AI, Knowledge Graph and Search, as well as related Microsoft AI products and services, such as Bing, Edge, Cortana, XiaoIce, SwiftKey, Translator, Pix, Cognitive Services and Skype. This in-depth cooperation in AI technologies and products, on top of Xiaomi’s solid experience in smart hardware, big data, and its smart device ecosystem, as well as the significant breakthroughs in core artificial intelligence technologies and products that Xiaomi has achieved, aims to generate even more synergy between hardware and software to enhance the end-user experiences on Xiaomi devices.

Founded in 2010, Xiaomi has achieved remarkable development as one of the world’s most innovative technology companies. Xiaomi’s fast-expanding product line includes but is not limited to smartphones, smart TVs, and a range of smart home products.

The cooperation between Xiaomi and Microsoft has been long-standing: since 2015, Xiaomi has adopted Microsoft Azure operated by 21Vianet in China to run its Mi Cloud service for smartphone users; in June 2016, the two companies reached a global-scale partnership, and Xiaomi began to pre-install Microsoft Office and Skype apps on its Android-based smartphones and tablets, to benefit its customers with modern workforce and communication tools; at the same time, Microsoft and Xiaomi also reached intellectual property agreements, to help Xiaomi’s product go global compliantly.

On October 31, 2017, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella visited Xiaomi’s retail store with Lei Jun, the founder, Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, and Satya showed great interest in Xiaomi’s products and services.
